In Loving Memory of Johnny Ray Robinson

A Life Filled with Joy, Family, and Friendship

Johnny Ray Robinson, born on October 8, 1960, in Jacksonville, North Carolina, was the cherished seventh child in a lively family of eight siblings. Raised by the late Carlton Joseph and Rena Mae Robinson, Johnny's roots were deep in family, laughter, and the gentle warmth of his hometown. Johnny graduated proudly from Jacksonville High School as a member of the class of 1980, eager to explore the world beyond. His journey led him to Atlanta, Georgia, where his friendly spirit and boundless curiosity helped him forge lasting connections wherever he went. Johnny never met a stranger—his kindness and humor turned acquaintances into friends, and friends into family.

After many adventures and discoveries, Johnny found his calling at Emory University Hospital, where he dedicated 34 years as a laboratory carrier. Compassionate and hardworking, he became a beloved presence in the halls of Emory, brightening the days of patients and colleagues alike. His coworkers became lifelong friends, forming a second family who stood by him through every season of life.

Johnny's love for sports was legendary. He played and coached the Emory employee softball team, sharing his infectious enthusiasm and encouraging words with everyone on and off the field. His big personality was a beacon-his smile, always genuine and radiant, had the remarkable power to lift spirits and spark joy in others.

Traveling was another joy for Johnny. Every year, he planned trips to celebrate life with those he loved most-family and friends. He lived by his mother's wise words: "Never get too busy to check on each other." Johnny made it his mission to nurture the bonds that mattered most, always putting family first and sharing love freely.

The greatest light in Johnny's life was his daughter, Maya. His eyes would shine each time he saw her, reflecting the pride and hope he carried for her future. Johnny imparted lessons of kindness, togetherness, and unconditional love values Maya will carry forward, sharing them with her own family. His devotion extended beyond immediate family, touching siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends with the same warmth and caring spirit.

He leaves to cherish his memories - Daughter Maya (Jeffrey)Millhouse, Sisters Evelyn Lewis, Clementine Martin, Rev. Doris (Myers)Petteway, Julia (James)Hicks, Pamela (Anthony)Rivers, Aunts Bernice Williams, Elizabeth Robinson, Uncles Oscar (Lucille)Robinson, Walter Thompson, Sister-in-law Anne Robinson, a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and Friends. Lifelong friends are Clayton Solomon, Marion Oglesby, and John Gardner.
